Build Coalitions to Address Global Challenges

Like many global corporations, one of the biggest components of Dow’s cost structure is energy costs.  Running a global business requires a lot of energy.  The company and the UN Foundation knows that making the most out of energy supply not only saves money, but has surprising impacts on our global fight against global warming.

Dow and the UN Foundation have launched the International Energy Efficiency Task Force to explore ways to promote international energy efficiency among governments and businesses worldwide. Dow shares a common goal of aggressing promoting energy efficiency across the G8 countries (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States).

The UN Foundation has been active on energy and climate issues for over 10 years and has developed a unique contact group of experts.  Dow saw the potential in partnering with the UN Foundation because of these contacts and the Foundation’s unique relationship with the United Nations.  The UN Foundation benefits from having a business perspective on a global issue.
