  7. United We Serve

    Area of Involvement: Children’s Health ; Climate & Energy ; Sustainable Development ; UN-US Relations ; Women & Population

President Obama and the First Lady have extended a call to service, challenging all Americans to help lay a new foundation for growth in this country by engaging in sustained, meaningful community service. Through the White House and Corporation for National and Community Service’s initiative, United We Serve, all Americans have the opportunity to engage in sustained community service to create meaningful change in their communities, across the country, and around the world. This initiative aims to both expand the impact of existing organizations by engaging new volunteers in their work and encourage volunteers to develop their own "do-it-yourself" projects. United We Serve is an initial 81 days of service but will grow into a sustained, collaborative and focused effort to promote service as a way of life for all Americans. United We Serve’s website, www.serve.gov provides all the tools needed for individuals and organizations to post service and volunteer opportunities and find opportunities in their community.
