UNFPA is the world's largest multilateral source of population assistance. Since it became operational in 1969, it has provided nearly $6 billion to developing countries to meet reproductive health needs and support development efforts.
UNFPA co-chairs, with UNICEF, the UN Interagency Task Force on Adolescent Girls which works to increase the opportunities and potential for 600 million young women in developing countries through access to education and health care.
