Based in Seattle, the foundation is led by CEO Patty Stonesifer and co-chair William H. Gates Sr., under the direction of Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett.

In 2000, ExxonMobil Foundation launched its Africa Health Initiative to support disease prevention, control and treatment programs mainly focused on malaria.
GAVI Alliance

The GAVI Alliance (formerly the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation) is a public-private partnership of major stakeholders in immunisation. It includes developing country and donor governments, the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the World Bank, the vaccine industry in both industrialised and developing countries, research and technical agencies, civil society, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and other philanthropists. WHO estimates that GAVI support will have prevented more than 2.9 million deaths by the end of 2007

LWR is headquartered in Baltimore, Md. and has worked in international development and relief since 1945.
Malaria No More

Area of Involvement: Children’s Health

Malaria No More is an inclusive, grassroots movement to control malaria, a preventable and treatable disease that kills more than one million people annually, especially in Africa, where one child dies from malaria every 30 seconds. Leading non-governmental organizations created Malaria No More in 2006 to give individuals and private and non-profit organizations the opportunity to support a comprehensive approach in the fight against malaria, and to help coordinate those efforts with governments, and the multilateral and international organizations at the forefront of this fight.
