"Music for Relief" Benefiting Haiti
February 19, 2011
As the United Nations and its partners continue to help Haiti rebuild in the aftermath of last year’s devastating earthquake, the music world is mobilizing to find ways it can help. Linkin Park's non-profit community, Music for Relief, has teamed up with the United Nations Foundation for a campaign called Download to Donate.
Building on the success of the first album, Music for Relief recently launched Download to Donate v2.0, encouraging music fans to make a one-time $10 donation to the continued recovery of Haiti. As a thank you, supporters will receive a one year subscription to a growing catalog of music donated by hundreds of artists, including Alanis Morissette, The All-American Rejects, Kenna, Linkin Park, Lupe Fiasco, Slash, and Thrice.
By giving up a few coffees to donate a quick ten dollars, supporters help Haiti get the funds it so desperately needs. Donors also receive the gift of free music from musicians they already know and love, as well as the opportunity to discover new music. It’s a win-win!
Would you like to learn more how you can support the UN’s ongoing relief efforts in Haiti and the power of social media for social good? On February 22, the UN Foundation is kicking off its participation in Download to Donate, giving music fans and the Facebook community the opportunity to participate in a live-streamed Facebook ‘Town Hall’ with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Linkin Park. Donations submitted during the Facebook event through Download to Donate will help keep the women and children in Haiti safe at night by providing solar-powered lights through UN agency partners. Make sure to tune in and show your support!
