Ryan Hobert is the UN Foundation’s Senior Director for Energy and Climate Change. Ryan helps lead the Foundation’s efforts to promote and protect the international climate agreement that was universally adopted by 195 countries in Paris in 2015. He helped incubate and continues to support the Sustainable Energy for All initiative, which was launched by the UN Secretary-General in 2011 to reach three objectives globally by 2030: universal access to modern energy services; a doubling of the annual rate of energy efficiency improvement; and a doubling of renewable energy in the world’s energy mix. Ryan works closely with UN partners to build strategic partnerships on climate and energy with national governments, the private sector, and civil society.
Before joining the UN Foundation in 2004, Ryan worked in the energy branch of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Paris. He holds a B.A. in political science from Wheaton College in Illinois; and a master’s degree in international affairs from the Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po) in Paris.
