2011/12 Global Entrepreneurs Council

The United Nations Foundation has brought together some of the brightest entrepreneurs under 45 through the Global Entrepreneurs Council to take the UN and the UN Foundation – and our campaigns, partnerships, and programs – to the next level of innovation and impact. 

Council members represent various industries including, corporate, creative community, and media and have a proven track record of entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and advocacy on global issues.

Ryan Allis

Founder and CEO, Connect
Ryan Allis is a technology entrepreneur and investor. Ryan is Founder and CEO of Connect, a company focused on using mobile technology and relationship mapping to connect humanity globally. Ryan was the Co-Founder and CEO of iContact from 2003 until it was acquired in February 2012 by Vocus (NASDAQ:VOCS) for $169M. iContact grew from its start in 2003 to 300 employees, 70,000 customers, and 1 million users, reaching the INC 500 list three times.

Elliott Bisnow

CEO, Summit
Elliott Bisnow is the Founder & CEO of Summit, and the Co-Founder & Vice Chairman of Bisnow Media. The mission of Summit Series, Summit’s flagship event series, is to unite the leaders of today and tomorrow through environments and events designed to catalyze positive personal and collective growth. Elliott manages Summit, and in this role oversees the leadership team, company culture and new growth initiatives.

Sergio Fernández de Cordova

Chairman and Co-Founder, PVBLIC Foundation
Sergio Fernández de Córdova is an internationally recognized entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist working at the intersection of media and leveraging public-private partnerships for social impact. In 2011, he co-founded Infrastructure Media Group Holdings (IMGH,, a holding company focused on global infrastructure, energy, commodities and public-private partnerships; and Innovators Fund (, a collaborative-based seeding platform investing in global disruptive civic-focused technology ventures.

Brian Gott

Chairman, Starlight Children’s Foundation & Program Director, Burkle Global Impact Initiative, UCLA
Brian spent 12 years at the entertainment industry's global media outlet Variety, serving as the organization's Publisher since 2009. In that time he conceived of and launched that brand’s philanthropic efforts, which in a 4-year span generated more than $6M in charitable contributions, benefitting more than 50 non-profit organizations.

Angela Mwanza

Senior Vice President, Richards & Mwanza Group, UBS Private Wealth Management
Angela hails from Zambia and by way of Zimbabwe and Germany made her home in the United States. She is very engaged in public health and about taking an entrepreneurial approach to solving some of the world's largest problems through her roles as Co-Vice Chairman of the Global Health Alliance focused on family planning/ reproductive health, member of the Board of Trustees of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, and Grassroot Soccer. Angela also serves on the Advisory Board of Beespace, a non-profit incubator that includes the Malala Fund as one of the first incubees. She was a founding member of the United Nations Foundation Global Entrepreneurs Council of which she is now an emeritus member. Angela also serves on the Advisory Boards of Johnson, Cornell University Business School and Entrepreneurship@Cornell and is a member of the Economic Club of New York and of US-SIF: The Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment.

Shervin Pishevar

Shervin joined Menlo Ventures in 2011 and focuses on the social web, consumer internet, mobile and the emerging Collaborative Consumption space. At Menlo, Shervin sits on the board or works closely with the teams at Getaround, Machine Zone, Uber, Fab, Warby Parker, Shaker, Mr. Number, and has led Menlo’s investment in Tumblr. Shervin helped launch the Menlo Talent Fund, Menlo’s $20M seed fund, in September 2011.

A Founding Partner of Signia, Zaw is focused on early-stage tech investing and on creating a new model of venture capital. He is a board member / observer with Signia portfolio companies: Boxed, ApplePie Capital, Scoop, StatX, Nativo, 12 Digit Media, and several still in stealth. Zaw is a veteran entrepreneur and operator who has been starting companies since the age of 19. Zaw was the founder and CEO of 4INFO, one of the first and largest mobile advertising platforms in the world. Business Week recognized him as one the "Mobile Barons" helping to shape the mobile ad industry since 2004. In 2011, Zaw was selected as one of ten entrepreneurs to serve on the United Nations Foundation's inaugural Global Entrepreneurs Council, where he is now an Emeritus Member of the board.

Randi Zuckerberg

Founder and CEO, Zuckerberg Media
Randi Zuckerberg is the founder and CEO of Zuckerberg Media. As one of the first ten employees at Facebook, Randi created and ran the social media pioneer's marketing program. She led the company’s U.S. election and international politics strategy and created Facebook's livestreaming capability through media partnerships during the 2008 Presidential Inauguration. Randi was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2011 for her innovative coverage of the 2010 mid-term elections that integrated online and TV coverage in unique formats.
