The Officer, Online Communications, Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves will lead the Team in creating, editing and posting web and social media content for the Alliance, managing all facets of the website, engaging Alliance partners in the online community, and executing additional projects as necessary such as the Forum microsite, provide input on and manage the execution of multiple thematic web portals, managing relationships with web and other communications consultants, and more. S/He will assist in developing an online strategy that effectively builds and showcases the Alliance’s knowledge management tools and resources including online portals and communities of practices, reflects the initiative’s diverse programmatic and partnership activities, and helps grow and track the Alliance’s research, online fundraising, advocacy, outreach, social media, and email communications.

Reporting Relationships/Scope
The Officer, Online Communications, Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves reports to the Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships, with a dotted line to the Senior Director, Digital and Multimedia Strategy.
Responsibilities/Deliverables
- Work closely with Senior Communications Officer, Partnerships Team, and Program and Markets staff to meet web content, social media, partner engagement, and multimedia strategic needs;
- Work independently and with a team to identify, explore and implement creative online strategies; make recommendations for content and online communications tools, and maintain basic upkeep of Alliance site and online portals in a timely manner;
- Manage engagement with and among Alliance members within our online community;
- Provide oversight for all content related aspects of electronic communications;
- Lead digital content development process, including writing and editing web content, email, and social media messaging;
- Manage relationships with vendors and report to Senior Director on any issues or delays in the execution of their duties;
- Prepare monthly newsletter layout and manage distribution process to partners;
- Manage Alliance photo library and refresh website content on a regular basis;
- Proactive grassroots outreach online (blogs, community networking sites, listservs);
- Coordinate and maintain the Alliance editorial calendar with other Foundation campaigns and initiatives;
- Work with the Public Affairs team and program staff to keep branding and messaging consistent on and offline;
- Conceptualize and design new websites, portals, cookstove tracking, donor landing pages, and web features in consultation with staff and outside vendors;
- Monitor and analyze web and email metrics to enhance traffic and support wider participation of partners, including hosting trainings or webinars;
- Keep up-to-date on online communications and web industry standards and trends;
- Provide general support for and makes recommendations to the Senior Communications Officer, when needed, on multimedia presentations, filming, editing, writing, etc.;
- Provide help to Senior Communications Officer on content development and updates;
- Other projects and duties as may be assigned.
Selection Criteria
- Minimum 5 years of managing multifaceted programmatic websites;
- Experience as part of web design team; oversight of design process preferred
- Proficient in HTML, Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Microsoft Office
- Proficient in Joomla, Convio Druple CRM and CMS systems
- Thorough understanding of social networking with examples of current and successful uses of online networks – for example, blogging, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Google+;
- Ability to communicate effectively with wide range of constituencies and respond to large and diverse partner base;
- Excellent conceptual, analytical, writing, and organizational skills;
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities;
- Ability and willingness to work in teams;
- Ability to work under pressure and under tight timelines;
- Ability to meet regular attendance / tardiness policy.
- Interest in the United Nations, international affairs, clean energy, and global health a plus.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle stress;
- Ability to meet regular attendance / tardiness policy.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary commensurate with experience. Actual salary will depend on qualifications and anticipated contribution to the Foundation.
UNF pays 100% of medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance premiums for its employees and 75% of medical and vision for employees' dependents.
