The United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA) informs, inspires, and mobilizes Americans to support the principles and vital work of the United Nations. UNA-USA’s grassroots membership includes over 125 chapters and more than 12,000 members nationwide who engage in public education and advocacy, promoting strong US-UN relations. As a result of the strategic alliance with the United Nations Foundation, UNA-USA is a leader of the largest network of advocates and supporters of the United Nations in the world.
Becoming a member of UNA-USA links you to a network of like-minded individuals who collectively promote the work of the UN at the grassroots level. Membership also opens access to education, networking, and other national initiatives and programs. Programs include:
- Advocacy – Through their chapters and divisions, UNA-USA members are encouraged to connect with their elected leaders to promote issues affecting the UN.
- Council of Organizations – A network of more than 90 nongovernmental organizations in the US that promote public awareness of global issues and the UN’s role in world affairs.
- Global Classrooms/Model UN – A national program and international network that enriches students’ lives by teaching global citizenship skills.
- Leo Nevas Program on Human Rights – A campaign that recognizes individuals who advanced human rights with an annual award, and brings together human rights nongovernmental organizations to collaborate with UN officials on how to improve the UN Human Rights Council.
