Through UNFPA, the Food
and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and IMIFAP
(Instituto Mexicano de Investigacion de Familia
y Poblacion), this project provides a program
of integral family and community development to
160,000 of the most marginalized members of both
mestizo and indigenous populations in the state
of Hidalgo. It incorporates health and education
systems as well as the mass media to create a
model for application in other parts of Mexico
and Latin America. UN Foundation involvement has
served as a catalyst for $6.5 million in additional
funding from the Government of Mexico in support
of this project.

Family Health International (FHI) works to improve
reproductive health around the world, with an
emphasis on developing countries. The FHI website
provides information on their prevention projects,
and posts more than 400 full-text articles on
HIV/AIDS prevention. The site and its contents
are available in English, Arabic, French, Russian
and Spanish.
