UN Foundation congratulates David Killion on his appointment as U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization

Washington, DC (June 26, 2009) —“The United Nations Foundation strongly welcomes the appointment of David Killion as the next U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
David Killion’s international experience and continued commitment to UNESCO’s important work will serve him well as he helps to further the mission of UNESCO in promoting international cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture and communication. Previously, Killion served as senior professional staff member on the House Foreign Affairs Committee for Chairman Howard Berman and the late Congressman Tom Lantos (D-CA), the previous Chair and Ranking Member of the Committee. Killion coordinated committee initiatives to improve UN management and to reform UN human rights mechanisms while in that role. Additionally, he worked on legislation that Mr. Lantos introduced and passed in 2001 authorizing U.S. re-entry to UNESCO.
