The United Nations Foundation today joins people around the world in mourning the passing of Michael Elliott, former President and CEO of ONE. Kathy Calvin, President and CEO of the United Nations Foundation, said the following:

“On behalf of the United Nations Foundation, I send my deepest sympathies to Michael Elliott’s family and friends and to the entire ONE community. We were privileged to work with him as an extraordinary leader and partner in the fight to end global poverty.

“Michael was a powerful storyteller, a beautiful writer, and a relentless optimist who refused to accept a world with poverty as the status quo. From his work as a journalist to his leadership at ONE, he brought eloquence, passion, and determination to cause of justice, and our world is better because of it.

“In a time of global complexity, Michael showed us that progress is possible if we stand up, stand together, and act. He had a unique ability to motivate, advocate, and advance change. We will miss Michael, and we will honor his legacy by continuing to act for a world without poverty and with dignity for all.”
