Third Annual Moms +SocialGood Announces Addition of Connie Britton, Jerry O’Connell, Jessica Seinfeld, Jackie Bezos, Rosie Pope, Penny Abeywardena and Ambassador Power

Moms +SocialGood , an event dedicated to the power of moms and families to create a better future for their communities, today announced new attendees for its one-day event on May 1 at the New York Times Center in Manhattan:
- Connie Britton – Actress, singer and UNDP Goodwill Ambassador
- Jerry O’Connell – Actor, producer, director
- Jessica Seinfeld - Baby Buggy founder and cookbook author
- Jackie Bezos - President and Co-Founder, Bezos Family Foundation
- Rosie Pope - Star of Bravo’s “Pregnant in Heels,” creator and designer of renowned fashion line Rosie Pope Maternity, and creator and teacher of MomPrep
- Penny Abeywardena - Commissioner of International Affairs, New York City Mayor’s Office
- Ambassador Samantha Power – United States Ambassador to the United Nations
Co-hosted by the United Nations Foundation and Johnson & Johnson, with support from BabyCenter and the Huffington Post, the one-day event Moms +SocialGood will draw speakers who will share ideas and draw attention to some of the greatest challenges facing women and children, placing moms and dads at the forefront of the discussion on how to tackle these issues.
This year’s theme is: “What kind of world do you want for your family in 2030?” Whether it’s for our children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews or neighbors, we must envision the future in terms of health, education and access to opportunities for our own families—and families around the world.
Moms +SocialGood will leverage influential voices to help focus the world’s attention on ways to improve the health and well-being of women and children. Some facts that must be addressed include:
- Every 20 seconds a child dies from a vaccine-preventable disease.
- Medical complications from pregnancy and childbirth are leading causes of death among girls ages 15-19 in low- and middle-income countries. And girls between the ages of 10 and 14 are five times more likely to die in pregnancy or childbirth than women aged 20 to 24.
- For millions of mothers living in poverty, access to vital health information is a matter of life or death.
Moms +SocialGood will also kick off the third annual Global Moms Relay, a digital dialogue to help boost health and happiness for moms and babies everywhere. The online relay will run from May 1 to June 19, featuring celebrities and community leaders from New York to Nairobi answering the question, “What kind of world do you want for your family by 2030?” For each share, on each social media network, Johnson & Johnson will donate $1, up to $300,000, to one of four causes that boost health and happiness for moms and children around the world: MAMA, Shot@Life, Girl Up and UNICEF.
