Dr. David Nabarro will deliver remarks, followed by a question and answer session with the audience. Dr. Nabarro will be joined by representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
Dr. David Nabarro was appointed by Secretary-General Kofi Annan to be Senior Coordinator for Avian and Human Influenza in September 2005; previously he was one of the most senior public health experts at the World Health Organization (WHO). Dr. Nabarro is responsible for ensuring that the United Nations system makes an effective and coordinated contribution to the global effort to control the epidemic of avian influenza.
The event is sponsored by the Congressional Global Health Caucus, the United Nations Family in Washington, and the United Nations Foundation.
