The CEO of the United Nations Foundation Kathy Calvin talks to Al Jazeera-English producer Kavitha Chekuru about the situation in Haiti six months after the devastating earthquake that killed more than 200,000 people. In February, Calvin traveled to Haiti to learn first-hand about the country's needs. Six months later, the UN Foundation continues to work closely with the United Nations and the donor community to assist the people of Haiti in long-term recovery efforts. The documentary "A New Picture of Health", narrated by world renowned conservationist Jane Goodall, sheds new light on the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. The Global Fund, the world's largest multilateral financing institutions for health, is in the midst of its Third Voluntary Replenishment in 2010. The film shows how investing in The Global Fund is making an impact on the ground, touching people's lives and playing a major role in achieving the health Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) with a focus on women and children. The United Nations Foundation will premiere the film at the African Union Summit in Uganda on July 26.

To kick-off the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Goodwill Ambassadors, Didier Drogba and Zinedine Zidane, launched an anti-poverty TV spot appealing for the world to live up to the challenge and join the team that will kick out poverty. The multilingual public service announcement will be broadcast during the tournament in South Africa and aims to bolster efforts to meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), eight internationally-agreed targets which aim to reduce poverty, hunger, maternal and child deaths, disease, inadequate shelter and gender inequality by 2015.
