"You're helping to build a better world, bringing relief to Haiti, keeping peace worldwide, fighting climate change." The UN Foundation was one of five beneficiaries of IDOL GIVES BACK, American Idol charity special.

  • UN Foundation visits rubble removal program in Haiti

    The UN Foundation speaks with a UNDP staffer about a United Nations rubble removal program in the Carrefour-Feuille neighborhood of Haiti. The program employs hundreds of thousands of Haitians to open up road access so that emergency crews and sanitation workers can reach areas of destruction before the rainy season starts.

    American Idol's Kris Allen traveled to Haiti with the UN Foundation to raise further awareness of the country's continuing needs after last month's earthquake. Since the Earthquake, the UN has been working hand-in-hand with Haitians to help them recover. In the months ahead, the UN's life-saving work will continue, including delivering food and water to millions of Haitians, providing opportunities for employment to more than 200,000 people and ensuring women and children are safe from mitigating diseases such as measles and malaria.
