Thoraya Obaid and Timothy E. Wirth will discuss the UN Children’s Summit and their organizations’ role in global problem-solving focused on adolescent girls. Adolescent girls, many of whom will be married and mothers before they turn 18, are the key to slowing the spread of HIV/AIDS and reaching future generations. The United Nations Foundation has supported initiatives focused on adolescent girls and education, health care and economic empowerment.
