Geun-hye Park: President, Republic of Korea, 2013-Present

Geun-hye Park is the 18th and first female president of the Republic of Korea (South Korea). The daughter of a former president, she entered politics early in her life to act as first lady after the assassination of her mother. She entered politics on her own terms in 1998 as an assemblywoman for The Grand National Party (GNP) now known as the Saenuri party.

The Park administration is focused on co-prosperity which shifts focus from the traditional Nation focused system to focus more on the individual. The administration also hopes to improve relations with the north with the eventual goal of reunification. In 2013 and 2014, she was voted 11th most powerful women in the world by Forbes and 52nd on the overall powerful persons list. She holds a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering.
