Jacob Tobia joined the United Nations Foundation as a Human Rights Intern working with the Leo Nevas Human Rights Task Force. Prior to joining the Foundation, Jacob has worked in South Africa at Sonke Gender Justice Network, an organization that works to engage men in gender equality, as well as with the Gay and Lesbian Archives of South Africa. He is a regular contributor for the Huffington Post, where he writes primarily about issues concerning the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community.

A junior at Duke University, Jacob is pursuing an interdisciplinary degree in Human Rights Advocacy and Leadership. At Duke, Jacob serves as co-President of Blue Devils United, the undergraduate LGBT advocacy group, as co-president of Duke Students for Gender Neutrality, and as an official in student government as well as participating actively in the arts community at Duke through theatre, dance, and music.

Fun fact: Jacob is an avid lover of hot sauce, guacamole, and backpacking—especially when he get to enjoy all three in combination.
