Diana Walker is the Managing Director of the United Nations Foundation’s Global Entrepreneurs Council, www.unfoundation.org/gec. In her role at the UN Foundation, Ms. Walker oversees all activities related to the Global Entrepreneurs Council, a high level group comprised of the next generation of leaders in the entrepreneur community who dedicate two years to work deeply with the UN Foundation to bring new ideas, innovation, perspective, and networks to the work of the UN to help solve global problems.
Ms. Walker has worked at the UN Foundation for ten years in capacities within the Global Partnerships, Public Affairs, and Energy/Climate Departments. In 2007, Ms. Walker took a leave of absence from the UN Foundation to join the Intergovernmental Affairs senior leadership team on the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado and the 2008 U.S. Presidential Campaign. She also managed logistics for the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Committee in Washington, D.C. and continues to support the White House on a volunteer basis providing advance and logistics work for President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Vice-President Joe Biden and Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden.
The UN Foundation builds public-private partnerships to address the world’s most pressing problems, and broadens support for the UN through advocacy and public outreach. Through innovative campaigns and initiatives, the Foundation connects people, ideas, and resources to help the UN solve global problems. The Foundation was created in 1998 as a U.S. public charity by entrepreneur and philanthropist Ted Turner and now is supported by global corporations, foundations, governments, and individuals.
Ms. Walker is from Boulder, Colorado and holds a B.A. from the University of Colorado. She is a member of the BMW Foundation’s Young Leaders Forum and sits on the Board of Something Independent, a Colorado group focused on bridging entrepreneurship and economic development in Colorado with the outdoor industry. In September 2012, Ms. Walker was named by the Diplomatic Courier and Young Professionals in Foreign Policy as one of the top 99 foreign policy leaders under the age of 33.
